SYS vs OVH

The sys servers are on sale, is i think iam going to get one.
But one question:
Is the ddos protection from the SYS game servers the same as the OVH Game servers?
Or are there differences?

Also, are the SYS Game servers stable? No downtime, lagg or latency problems or anything?
Thanks!

SYS has basic DDoS Protection which is not even permanent, when you take services directly from OVH.com instead, you'll have a better protection (AntiDDoS Pro as they call it).

If SYS states this on their website, then it's the same. Basically SYS uses older servers and has a crappy support, but the network is the same most likely.

Hi,

Same datacenter and network. Games servers use OVH Anti-Ddos Game.

I'm using E5-SAT-1-32 for my TS3 and games servers, basic anti-ddos is good too.

Depends on how popular you are I guess and how often you get attacked.
SYS Anti-DDoS Game is not permanent mitigation, it's detection only, aside from that it's the same protection, it just, you'll have a few seconds of downtime (~30 secs?) before it kicks in.

ddos api + crontab <3
Permanently Mitigation for server located in sys.

I don't recommend the OVH DDoS protection because you can bypass it easily. And yes, if the server from the attacker is in the same datacenter, it will bypass the DDoS protection because the packets don't get routed through VAC

This is a complete lie. That was the case like 20 months ago but now if you flood anything within the datacetner, they will auto shut off your machine and reboot it into rescue mode.

It is still like this, even today. :) Their Anti-hack is kinda of broken :)

Not true.

The Anti-hack is broken indeed, because of it being very aggressive. There is just one problem with what you said. Yes you can attack others from any OVH/SYS server, but the ip attacking will be shutdown immediatly and you need to call and explain yourself.

SYS game servers have permanent mitigation.

Oh my gosh you guys then please... elaborate more than just saying that... because I'd love to know! None of the SYS Game servers I can buy have it (I'm Canadian so haven't check other international sites but all of them do not have it for me). I don't run a dishonest service and I'm not about to break the law by DDoSing a server I buy just so I can get "permanent" mitigation like Vivorma suggests. Some of you might do that, but just know some of us like to operate our networks a little more honestly.

Isn't that the whole point between OVH and SYS. Better DDoS protection, raid, etc vs less but better price?

There's not a lot to elaborate about, the mitigation is the same as OVH game servers. The difference is the ftp backup space and components age. By example, my SSDs on my SYS game server had 3 years of use. The SSD on my OVH game server has 8 months use. Less likely to break I guess, but still SYS and OVH both have monitoring to detect a SSD failure in advance by example.

I'm canadian too. I've had a anti-ddos game SYS server for 1 year before buying an OVH one. Never had a problem. The reason I changed is because of the boxing day deal (got a ovh game with the same specs of the SYS, for less).

The game servers on SYS have PERMANENT mitigation.

Are you talking about the GAME protection?
GAME, SYS or Whatever, you can accomplish this in any of these. Because you are performing an inner attack (behind their protection systems) and not in the front of them (from the outside). It works, and it's tested.

Um no, they put your machine anti hack mode and power it down...
